Want to get started in Amateur Radio?

Get your Technician Class amateur radio license! Paul Simmons (WA1EIB) from the Miami County Amateur Radio Club (MCARC) will teach you everything that you need to know to pass the test and get started in amateur radio.

The class will be held in the Bier Hall inside Carillon Brewery, and starts on Saturday, August 4th at 8:30 am and runs until 3:30 pm with a half hour break for lunch. At 3:30pm, students have the option to take the free license exam.  The public is also invited to take a license exam for any of the three licenses (Technician/General/Amateur Extra) – no preregistration or admission is required for testing.

MCARC will be offering the free testing for all levels of license class.  Please bring a picture ID.  If upgrading, please bring your current license, a copy of current license CSCE(s), or other paperwork that can be used for verification. We do not use SSN’s, please obtain an FCC Registration Number (FRN) at the FCC web site (https://apps.fcc.gov/coresWeb/publicHome.do)

Pre-registration is required to participate in the class, via the form below.  General admission to Carillon Park is required to take the class.  For those attending the class, admission to the park will extend to Sunday for you to enjoy the full Maker Faire experience.
