You’ve heard about the Boneyard Build-Off.  You’ve saw it live last year, watched the video, read the blog posts… and now you can buy the tee shirt (seriously!).

This year we changed up the Boneyard Build-Off  to allow multiple local teams to compete, and we have a great showing.  But these teams need junk.  They need tools.  They need a challenge.  And we need YOU to help us provide it.

The Boneyard Bash is coming up on Saturday, July 8 from 3-7 PM at Proto Buildbar.  This is the pre-party where we kick things into high-gear and get pumped for the Boneyard.  The main event is where YOU get to vote on your favorite Boneyard Challenge that will be put to the four teams on July 28 just before their mad dash through Mendelson’s.  (For a refresher on the potential challenges, click here)

This is also a chance for your to experience a sneak peak of the 2017 Dayton Mini Maker Faire.  We’ll have Life Size Angry Birds set up in the parking lot for your enjoyment, and a few other exhibitors may pop in to say hello.

You can also get into the making spirit and screen print your very own Boneyard Build-Off logo shirt.

It’s called STYLE, thank you.

Finally, you can meet the competitors and pick which team you’re going to support.  We have teams of all ages, from high school, college and professional makers.  There’s the defending champions, The Constant Variables lead by Christian Moist.  UD Makerz is representing the college crowd and hopes to snag a place in Boneyard history for the University of Dayton Makers Club.  BONDS will bring their FIRST Robotics experience and competitive edge to the Boneyard, but will it be enough for these high schoolers to beat out the pros? And finally, the newcomers, Team Little Fox will pit professional craftsmen against them all.

Boneyard team captains await the final scores this August.

All the proceeds from the special activities at the event will go to fund the Dayton Mini Maker Faire and keep the Boneyard Build-Off going strong for years to come.

Oh, and don’t forget you’ll be able to buy pre-sale tickets for the Dayton Mini Maker Faire while you’re at Proto Buildbar.  This year, Mendelson’s, Proto Buildbar and MCM Electronics will all be selling pre-sale Maker Faire tickets so you can beat the ticket counter line and spend that much longer enjoying the August 5&6 main event.  We’ll announce on the website and our social media when pre-sale tickets have gone live, so follow @makerfaireDAY on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and subscribe to the blog for the latest news.
